“Success” can be a difficult word to define because the
success itself can be so subjective and variable from one person’s opinion to
another. Also, quite often when someone else advertises that they have the “secrets
to success” you may end up wondering why they may be so busy trying to sell you
those secrets instead of just using it for themselves. In reality, life can be
quite ironic at times, and the smartest person doesn’t always get the best
grade, and the best team doesn’t always win the game, and the fastest runner doesn’t
always win the race.
Maybe one of the basic building blocks of starting to work
toward “success” - whatever that may be for you; is to stop making stupid
choices and start making good ones. Let’s be honest, we all make bad decisions
from time to time and anyone who says they don’t is lying. So to start thinking
about making good choices today, review and discuss the following:
What is one basic life change that you know would be good for you that you have been too stubborn to make?
What is one piece of advice that you know is good advice but you haven’t been following it?
What is one good habit that you have been procrastinating starting for yourself?
To end on a positive note: What is one good thing in your life that you have been doing well?
